Frequently asked
Questions we get asked, answered plainly.
Pre-launch — not yet available for purchase. Where we don’t know something yet, this page says so instead of guessing.
- Is Tomei available to buy now?
- No. All six bags are pre-launch concepts and not yet available for purchase. There is no cart, no checkout and no payment of any kind. You can reserve one of 25 launch-batch places instead, which is not an order.
- Are the prices final?
- No. Every figure shown is an expected launch price and an estimate. Prices may change before launch, and we publish no release date.
- Is any Tomei bag waterproof?
- None of the six is sold as waterproof. Trail 22 uses sealed zippers and a coated interior and handles sustained rain in field use, but we publish no immersion rating. Metro 16 is DWR-treated and shower resistant; its exact water rating is still unresolved.
- Which Tomei bag fits a 16-inch laptop?
- Cabin 35 — its suspended sleeve was confirmed with a 16-inch laptop across three production samples. Metro 16 tops out at 14 inches, Camera 24 at 15 inches, and the Weekender 28 sleeve dimensions are still pending verification.
- Is Cabin 35 guaranteed to be accepted as carry-on on every airline?
- No. Cabin 35 was drawn against commonly published cabin-bag allowances. That is a design target, not a guarantee. Airline requirements vary by carrier, aircraft and fare class; check your carrier's sizer.
- Can I reserve a launch-batch place from outside the US?
- Yes. Reservations accept any country. Because nothing is for sale yet, there is no shipping, no international rate and no order to place — we cannot say today where we will ship at launch.
- What is the launch batch, and what happens when I reserve a place?
- Twenty-five places in total, across all six bags, not twenty-five per bag. The count is held on Tomei's server, so it is a real limit and one email address holds one place. Reserving records your interest against one specific bag: no order is placed, no payment or card detail is taken, and no product, price or release date is guaranteed. You can switch your place to a different bag or withdraw it at any time.
- What happens when all 25 places are taken?
- The site says "Launch batch full" — not "sold out", because nothing was ever for sale. A separate, uncapped interest list stays open. It is clearly distinct from the 25 launch-batch places and carries no priority.
